Delia Ann Daughtry Peterson, 86, of 104 Elizabeth St., passed away Thursday, November 10, 2021 at her home.
Funeral service will be at 2 PM, Monday, November 15th at Richlands Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, November, 16th at Rowan Baptist Church Cemetery.
Delia was born in Sampson County on July 7, 1935 to the late Lewis Daughtry and Ludie Lee Daughtry. She went to Halls High School finishing in 1952, Peace College for 1 year and graduated from Asbury College in 1956. She was a teacher for over 32 years, teaching in Wilmington, Maysville and finishing her teaching career in Richlands. She was a member of Richlands First Baptist Church, a long-time bridge player and a member of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles David Peterson, son Paul Lewis Peterson and siblings Gordon Daughtry, Lacy Daughtry, Joyce Porter, Jean Daughtry, Jaxie Smith and Clarence Daughtry.
Survivors include; daughter, Delia K. Peterson Hunter; son, David Peterson, Jr.; grandchildren, Lauren South Whiteside (Jamarius) of Gainesville, GA, Charline Peterson Whitebread (Chris) of Fallon, Nevada, Ronald Tyler Hunter of Greer, SC; great-grandchildren, Avery Claire Whiteside, Cameron Lewis Whitebread; and Chelsea Rae Whitebread.
